Burton Cons B also won 6-2 at home against Spot On A. Nigel Tomlinson was in good form as he took both frames against Ryan Gibbs. Jon Swift hit back for the hosts as he knocked in a 34 break on the way to beating Ade Harper. Simon Smith also made a 36 break as he defeated Andy Spiers. Mike Buckland found himself 29 down and needing a snooker against Mark Stirling. He managed to get the snooker and pinch the frame on the final black. He also won the other frame to see out the match.

Ivanhoe A beat Tutbury A 7-1. Ian Rennocks and Chris Mabbott shared their frames. Rennocks made breaks of 36, 34 and 31. That was as good as it got for the visitors however as Daniel Blunn made a 36 break as he beat Dan Mabbott. Mick Kirk beat Steve Hathaway and finally, Ant Moore won both frames against Dave Powell.

Rolleston A picked up a good 7-1 victory at home against Ivanhoe B. Joe Docksey knocked in a 49 break as he beat Bren Mattley. The top of the league now has a gap of ten points between the 3rd promotion position and fourth. The two sides just behind battled out a tight 4-4 draw which really did neither of them any good. Newhall have only lost once this season but have now drawn 5 times-this time against 3 man Stapenhill. Jason Spibey started well for Stapenhill until Carl Glover knocked a nice 32 in to win him their first. Jason hung in there to grab a share of the spoils after winning the second after Carl jawed a black off the spot. Andy Tomlinson was too strong for Mark Anslow who had an off night. Steve Ford played nicely to win his first against Martin Hicks who responded well to snatch the second. Both teams will have to play strongly in the second half of the season to mount a promotion challenge but both are capable of doing so.

Alrewas B have been flying recently and last week notched their sixth straight win-this time 6-2 against Burton Cons C, who rather like Newhall can’t get everyone playing well in the same week. There were victories for Adam Walton over Tom Egginton and Carl Poulton over Ian Shrive, whilst James Edwards drew with floater Dave Shipton and Dave Trueman halved with Lee Louch. Lee has lost only once this season but this was his 5th straight draw.
On the same number of points as Alrewas is SDSC B who defeated their own club’s C team 6-2. On target for the B team were Adam Harrison and Henry Tomas who defeated Dave and Matt Tewkesbury respectively. Simon Shilton drew with Nick Harcombe in a battle of the potters and then Pete Maguire drew with Ray Bancroft.
At the top of the pile is Tutbury B.They beat Rolleston B with something to spare last week by an emphatic 7-1 scoreline. Wayne Pereira was the starman as he rolled in a 21 and  then a 40 in his win over John Harvey. Daz Lester knocked in a 26 in his win over Kev Norris and  Bill Stewart beat Lionel Lewis. The match between Alan Davies and Rob Sanders ended all square to save the whitewash for the Rollers.
Rather the same as at the top , there is a gap developing between the bottom 3 and the rest. Third bottom is Stapenhill B after there win over fellow strugglers Woodville S & S A. There were a number of 20 plus breaks knocked in as Greg Britton scored one in his draw with Jim Marcer and Tony Coleman in his draw with Barry Waller. John Sherriff and Alan Orpwood also shared their game and it was the two twenty plus breaks from Bryan Sherratt in his win over Pat Ryan that made the difference and consigned the Woodville boys to the bottom of the table.
Two sides hovering above the relegation zone were Ivanhoe C and SDSC D and it was the Ashby side that came away with the extra winning point in their 6-2 win. Gaz Dolman and Andy Bloor halved their game in a match that really belongs in the Premier Division. Darren Wilson also drew for Ivanhoe with Garton Bloor. Steve Cockeram and Graham Measures were the main men this week for Ivanhoe as they scored wins over David Wain and Brian Bloor, Steve knocking in a nice 31 along the way.
Rolleston C, one of the season’s favourites for promotion, came unstuck 7-1 at home to Swad Cons B. Vince Draper, Nick Walker and Adam McNulty were all winners for the Swad boys whilst Jon Sully was the only point score for Rolleston in his draw with Bob McNulty.

Newton Fallowell Division 2 by Kate Stirling

Week 11 in Division 2 saw the top of the table clash between Woodville C and Alrewas C. Fran McNulty got the home side off to a good start beating R Sherratt 2-0 whilst Wayne Brewin settled for a draw against A Wilson. So, it was 3-1 to the ‘Wonderboys’ at the half -way mark and the match was still all to play for. W Sherratt kept Alrewas’ hopes alive by beating John Chambers but it was Mark Satchwelll who battled hard to beat an on-form J Sharp to secure a narrow 5-3 victory for the home side.

These two sides look set to be strong title contenders as only 2 points divide them at the top!

Solid outside bets for the title and promotion battle come in the form of Tutbury C and Ivanhoe – both sides sitting just 5 points behind the division leaders- Tutbury C had an excellent 6-2 win this week against Belmont C with Colin Bell and Paul Atterbury both securing 2 nil wins, whilst Ivanhoe rattled off yet another victory away to Belmont D newbies, Keith Bale and Brian Conrie both snatching wins for the visitors.

Rolleston D travelled to Woodville B this Week, Mark Gallager and Denis Moore got the home team off to a 3—1 start leaving their teammates just needing to tie, they battled hard to both draw and the home side secured a 5-3 win and are now dead level with Burton Cons in 5th place, neither team can be written off as contenders.

Burton Cons C also settled for a narrow victory this week against Swad Cons C, wins from Burton’s Al Mullin and Swad’s Paul Griffin set the scores at a tie at half time. Jim Jennings continued his winning ways as he took on Peter Fern and emerged victorious. John Petcher could only muster a draw against Paul Brookes for Burton Cons to win 5-3. This result puts Swad Cons C at the bottom of the division but with just 5 points separating the bottom three teams all eyes will certainly be on the clash between Swad Cons C and Belmont D next week!
