The Belmont derby saw the A team come out on top against the B team. Mark Vaughan picked up the only two frames for the Bteam as the A team could only field three players. Arron Vaughan won both frames against Zaheer Hussain. The first frame on the yellow and the second with reds still on the table. Brett Craddock was unfortunate to come out of the match against Graham Bailey empty handed. Bailey cleared the colours to win the first and was always in front in the second. Jon Swift then knocked in a superb 93 break but could only manage a draw with Bobby Cliff. Dave Plunkett shared the frames with Joe Docksey and finally, David Shipton drew with Mark Press.

Jason Pickering showed a bit of form at the right time as he won both frames against Chris Dewey. This completed the match and the final score at 5-3 in the hosts favour.

Spot On C were on the end of a 7-1 score line as Ivanhoe A were in town. Ian Rennocks was up first against Andy Jenkins and he played well, winning both frames and making a 46 in the first frame. Andy Marriott followed that up by winning both frames against Trevor Heath, aided by a 36 break. Tony Clements then pinched a frame, helped by fluking the blue and pink. The second went to his opponent Mick Kirk. The final game saw Daniel Blunn keep up his good form as he beat John Hardy.
Swad Cons A and Spot On A could not be separated on the night. Tom Elliott potted well to win both frames against Mark Hadley to put the visitors in front. Andy Spiers knocked in a 37 but couldn’t quite get over the line and Andy Grainger took both frames. Paul Slater and Mark Stirling both potted well to win a frame each. Finally, Lee Wood made a nice 43 break as he shared the frames with Ade Harper to leave the match all square.

The first league games of 2017 saw two draws in division 2 with Ivanhoe D travelling to Tutbury C the home side were looking to widen their gap in second place and stay hot on the heels of Woodville C, Dave Brady and Jeff Siddalls both secured wins for the home side whilst Brian Lowrie and John Collins battled hard to win their ties and the points were shared on the night.
Belmont D took on Burton cons at home and with a solid 26 break long the way Matt Groves secured a win for the home side while Jim Jennings took both off Tom Holland. Belmont’s Andy Biggadike continues to move up the ranks to joint 5th in the individual statistics with a whopping 83% as he dispatched Al Munnien 2-0. Belmonts’ ‘Boy-wonder’ Charlie Groves still searches for a winning frame since his fantastic start to the season but played some excellent snooker against a very steady Paul Brooks.
This week also saw Woodville C widen their gap at the top by a massive 17 points as McNulty, Brewin, Satchwell and Chambers joined forces to take out a whitewash as they played host to Swad Cons C who are now 7 points adrift at the bottom.
Spot on’s Snookettes visited Swad Cons and without one of their big hitters in the shape of Yvonne Spendlove the ladies drafted in supersub Claire Roulstone. Roulstone certainly rose to the occasion with some excellent play to tie with Swad’s Dave Bodie. Swad cons battled well and secured a 7-1 win on the night with some great break-building from Gaz Ward and a tense match between Kate Stirling and Andy Boam saw Andy take both on the black!
A reminder to all division 2 teams – Woodville D have withdrawn from the league and that fixture is now a bye
