Already promoted Tutbury B were unable to claim the Division One title with a match to spare as they were run close to a 5-3 win over relegation threatened SDSC D. The Swad Snnoker centre side gave themselves hope of avoiding the drop with some good play from David Wain who beat Alan Davies and also Andy Bloor who took a frame off of Daz Lester. Jan Pawlazcyk was in good nick for the Tutters with a 37 in his win over Brian Bloor alongside Wayne Pereira who won again over Garton Bloor. Tutbury need just a single frame from their last match against Stapenhill to claim the title whilst SDSC D will have to out perform Stapenhill B in their last fixtures.

In second and also guaranteed Premier Division snooker next season are SDSC B. They stumbled to a 5-3 victory last week as well over Swad Cons B. Henry Tomas and Adam Harrison were on form with a win a piece. The match between Ben Davies and Nick Walker was halved whilst Paul Hollis turned up trumps for The Cons with a good 2-0 win over an off colour Simon Shilton, who knocked in some cracking pots but was unable to follow them up. Swad Cons are safe for another season in Division One whilst SDSC B will have a role to play in the outcome of the third promotion spot as they travel to Alrewas B on the final day.

Currently in third are Stapenhill A who won 5-3 away at Ivanhoe C last week. Andy Tomlinson, Carl Jeffcoate and Steve Ford all halved their encounters with Gaz Dolman, Graham Measures and Darren Wilson whilst it was Andy Gretton who made the difference as he scored both against Jerry Cook. Stapenhill play the champions elect in their final game so promotion is not yet guaranteed despite holding a four point cushion going into the final day. Ivanhoe are mid table having won 100 frames and lost 100 this season so far.

The side chasing Stapenhill, Alrewas B were looking for a more conclusive scoreline than 5-3 but nevertheless came out winners against Rolleston C. Dave Trueman, Ian Hiley and Carl Poulton all drew against Wayne Smith, Mick Taylor and Tom Lucas whilst Adam Walton gave the Legionnaires some hope of claiming that 3rd promotion spot with a good 2-0 win over John Brentnall.

At the bottom Rolleston B’s relegation was confirmed as they lost 6-2 at home to Burton Cons C. Lee Louch included a lovely 58 on his way to beating Kev Norris for the Cons. Steve Castledine was also in good order as he defeated Lionel Lewis. Tom Egginton and Ian Shrive of the Cons halved their battles with Rob Sanders and Rob Tubey. This result has sent Rolleston down whilst guaranteeing safety for The Cons.

Already relegated Woodville A ran Newhall A close but came up just short once again as they lost 5-3. Mark Anslow was the star man for Newhall as he provided the win alongside 3 draws including a good 25 in his win over Pat Ryan. Martin Hurdman had a 24 in his draw with Tony Coleman. There were also draws between Carl Glover and Alan Orpwood and Martin Hicks with Jim Marcer. Both these sides will be amongst the favourites for promotion in their respective divisions next term.

In another bottom of the table battle, it was SDSC C who came out on top and secured their status for next season whilst condemning Stapenhill to a nervous last day looking over their shoulders. It was the two Rays, Bancroft and Stretton who were the heroes as they defeated John Sheriff and Tim Knopik. The top match was Greg Britton versus Nick Harcombe and this was deservedly halved. Another draw was played out between Bryan Sharratt and Matt Tewkesbury.

Going in to the final week of the season, Wayne Pereira, Nick Harcombe, Adam Harrison and Wayne Smith are holding the four seats for next Sunday’s Ken Shipton Memorial tournament at Belmont whilst Lee Louch is sitting pretty at the top of the High Breaks table with his 81. If you are in the top 4 after Thursday, can you please confirm to either Mike or Carl that you are able to compete other wise we will begin to go further down the table – thanks.
