In a battle between two sides making an early promotion bid, it was SDSC B who came out on top in a tight encounter with Tutbury B. Adam Harrison made the difference for the Swad side as he defeated Bill Stewart. All of the other games ended in draws with Henry Tomas taking a frame off of Daz Lester to leave the half time score 3-1. The second half saw shared matches between Alan Davies and Ben Davies and then Dean Johnson and Simon Shilton.

Stapenhill A showed they are in the mood for a quick return to the Premier Division although they didn’t have it all their own way against Swad Cons B. The Cons’ talsiman Adam McNulty was held to a 1-1 draw by Jason Spibey as Vince Draper scored a good win over Andy Gretton. From then on though it was all Stapenhill as Steve Ford beat Paul Hollis ans Baz Dawson beat Bob McNulty.
In the Rolleston derby, it was the C team that came away with the bragging rights. However it started brightly for the B team with a great performance from Lionel Lewis beating Tom Lucas including runs of 39, 23 and 22.At half time though it was level with John Brentnall beating Rob Sanders. The second half belonged to the C with wins for Wayne Smith and Billy Ashton over Kev Norris and John Harvey respectively.
A tight match was fought out on Tuesday at Burton Cons where the clubs C team drew 4-4 with Newhall A. At half time it was looking good for The Cons with Lee Louch continuing his good run of form with a fine victory over Martin Hicks. Tom Egginton had secured a draw against Nick Trayford to leave the score at 3-1 to The Cons. The second half though saw the score 3-1 the other way with a win for Newhall’s Mark Anslow over Matt Hucker and a draw between Ian Shrive and Carl Glover.
The break of the week was knocked at Ashby where Gaz Dolman produced a wonderful 54 in his match against Greg Britton of Stapenhill B. However high breaks only win one frame and Greg delved deep to ensure he came away with a share of the spoils.Another draw was had between Steve Cockeram and Bryan Sherratt to leave it all square at half time. The second half saw two wins for Ivanhoe as Graham Measures beat John Sheriff despite John having a nice run of 31.Darren Wilson completed the scoring with a win over Tim Knopik.
Woodville A have struggled so far this season and it was the same story again this week as they lost 6-2 at home to SDSC C. Jim Marcer again though was able to stem the tide as he defeated Dave Tewkesbury. The rest of the match saw wins for the Swad trio of Matt Tewkesbury, Nick Harcombe and Ray Bancroft over Alan Orpwood, Pat Ryan and Tony Coleman.
Taking an early look at the averages tables, Nick Harcombe and Wayne Pereira have 90%. Three players are on 87.5%, Ian Hiley,Jason Spibey and Mark Anslow. And there are 5 others on 80% and over….Steve Ford, Adam McNulty, Lee Louch, Daz Lester and Adam Harrison. Meanwhile the high break is the 54 effort of Gaz Dolman of Ivanhoe C this week. There have been 13 other breaks of over 30 with Adam McNulty of Swad Cons B the best at 43.
