It was just as tight at Spot On where the club’s A team narrowly beat the B.Nigel Tomlinson and Ton Elliott both won twice for the A whilst Tim Hodgkinson , making a rare appearance, scored two for the B as the A hung on as 5-3 winners.

Premier Division SDSC B had too much in the tank for Burton Cons C and came out 6-2 winners. Henry Tomas, Harry Farrell and Adam Harrison all won twice with Ian Shrive and Greg Read each taking a frame for the Division One outfit.

The match between Stapenhill B of Division Two and Newhall A of Division One went all the way to the dreaded doubles and it was Newhall who scraped over the line with a win for Adam McInulty and Nick Walker over Simon Piechovicz and Andy Tomlinson. Nick Walker earlier had been the only two frame winner of the evening. It was a very tight game and it was a shame there had to be a loser.

Belmont B produced a surprise by beating Tutbury A of the Premier 5-3, with the Tutters having been in good form of late.

In the Premier Blinds Orme Plate, for those knocked out in the first round of the competition Proper, Burton Cons A brushed past Woodville C of Division Two 7-1. Graham Stevens was again in break building form as he rolled in a nice 41 during his win over Wayne Allen. Mark Gallagher potted well and deserved to share the two frames he had with Jon Swift.

Swad Cons A shook off their league woes with a whitewash against fellow Premier Division side SDSC A. Andy Grainger knocked in a nice 41 whilst there also doubles for Paul Slater, Simon Orpwood and Mark Hadley.

Spot On C, of Division One, scraped past Belmont C of Division Two, by a 5-3 scoreline.Tony Clements and John Hardy were the men to make the difference as they both won twice.

Ivanhoe B were in giant killing form as they rolled over Alrewas A, who are having an up and down season. Karl Hancox’s double was not enough for The Legionnaires as Greg Gallup and N. Sewell also won twice for an Ivanhoe side short of some regulars.

Tutbury B of the Premier came out 6-2 winners in their clash with Rolleston B. Kev Norris, for the Rollers, had two good wins over Wayne Pereira. Alan Davies knocked in a 29 and a 31 in his win over Rob Tubey whilst there were also doubles for Bill Stewart and Jan Pawlazcyk.

Woodville B came out winners in the doubles over SDSC D at The Woodville Arena. Alan Orpwood, The Big O, was in ruthless form to get The Worriers off to a good start but Andy Bloor levelled with a good black in his first. Tony Coleman won his comfortably with Pat Ryan winning his first frame which went down to the wire, making it 3-1 to the home side. It was soon 4-1 as gary green was rampnat in beating Garton Bloor but then the match turned with wins for David Wain ,who played nicely;Andy Bloor oven Alan in a top of the averages battle and  Brian Bloor over Pat Ryan. In the doubles , it was nip and tuck between Alan Orpwood and Tony Coleman of Woodville and The Bloors, Brian and Andy until Alan knocked a nice blue down the baulk rail and a lovely pink in the middle.

Swad Cons C had a comfortable 6-2 win over Rolleston C. Mark Storr top scored with a 33 on the night but this was as good as it got for The Rollers as doubles for Gaz Ward, Bob Birch and Andy Boam saw The Cons home.

The Snookerettes scored a rare victory over Burton Cons D, who were only able to put out three players. Kate Stirling was in form as she scored a good double for Spot On D with Yvonne Spendlove also on the scoresheet.
