2017-18: Presidents Handicap Quarter-Finals

It was Nicholas Humphreys Presidents Cup quarter final week across the 3 divisions last week and there were a couple of surprises.

In Division 2 Rob Sanders and Lionel Lewis won both their frames as they saw Rolleston B past Woodville C. This has set up a semi final against Stapenhill Bwho brushed past Rolleston C 7-1 with Greg’s Briton, Bryan Sharratt answer Simon Piechowicz all in fine form.

The Snookerettes of Spot On D have made their first ever semi final with Clare Peaty and Yvonne Spend love on fine form as they defeated Woodville B. They will have an inter club derby against Spot On E who beat SDSC D thanks to some outstanding play from Jared Cronje who knocked in a 38 and Mitch Hughes who rolled in two fifties in his 2 frames.

Rolleston B v Stapenhill B

In the Division One section, Newhall A handed out a lesson by thrashing Burton Cons C 8-0.Martin Hicks, Carl Glover, John Finch and Martin Hurdman were all too good for the Cons’ lads.

Belmont B were beaten 5-3 at home despite the best efforts of Zaheer Hussein who rolled in a nice 38 in his match.  Wayne Brewin though trumped this with a 40as he and Mark Satchwell did the damage for Woodville A.

Trevor Heath for Spot On C and Steve Ford for Stapenhill A were the only winners in normal time before the Snooker Clubs pairing of Heath again and Tony Clements slipped into the semi finals via the dreaded doubles.

Elsewhere Tutbury C continued their good start to the season by beating Alrewas B on their own patch 6-2.

In the Premier League Belmont A went one better than their recent draw with Burton Cons A by winning 5-3 away. Ian Archer making the difference with a win over John Shilton with the other three matches drawn.

Burton Cons B made light work with a stunning 8-0 triumph over Spot On A.

Hastie and Blunn were the men in form as Ivanhoe A won 5-3 v Tutbury B for whom Andy Thompson rolled in three 30 plus efforts.

Alrewas A had a fine 6-2 win away at Swad Cons A to complete the semi final line up….
