In the David Wain Insurance Premier Division, Spot On A scored a good 6-2 win at home to Tutbury B. Jan Pawlazyck was the only Tutters player on the scoresheet as he took both off Ade Harper. Mark Stirling beat Wayne Pereira. for the Spots and there were also victories for Tom Elliott and Andy Speirs over Alan Davies and Bill Stewart to complete the scoring.
Another Tutbury side put to the sword were the C as Belmont A ran out 7-1 winners. John Chambers was again Belmont’s star man as he rolled in efforts of 59 and 43 to dispatch Tom Lucas.Steve Butler for the Tutters managed to tale one off Rob Chambers but there were also wins for Owen Jones and Mark Sherratt over Steve Burrows and Wayne Smith respectively to push The Servicemen closer to the top.
The third Tutbury side to take a hammering were Tutbury A as they went down 6-2 at home against Burton Cons B. Steve Mabbutt , for The Tutters, had a nice 37 as he drew with a floating Simon Shilton who battled well for the half. And the match was all square at half time as John Brentnall and Simon Smith shared their two. It was all Cons after the break though with John Shilton having runs of 37 and 30 in his win overChris Mabbutt. Try Randle completed another double for the Cons as he got past Dave Mabbutt
Burton Cons A were only able to come out on parity with Alrewas A as they did not win for the first time this season. They managed to keep their unbeaten record in tact though as all four matches were drawn wit he Alrewas players winning the first frame in all of them. They were 2-0 down as Karl Hancox won his first against draw specialist Mike Buckland. he has a 32 in the frame he lost as well but Buckland had enough scoring visits to eek out the half. Graham Stevens lost only his second frame of the season to a John Richardson who was inspired in the first. Stevens though hung on in there for a share of the spoils. After half time, Alrewas went 4-2 up as Tom Smith and Lee Louch won their first frames versus Jon Fletcher and John Swift. Again though the Cons’ boys turned the two matches around and scored an overall half out of a match that for all the world looked like it was going to go the way of the Legionnaires.
This result gave Ivanhoe A the chance to close the gap at the top and this they did but only by two as they came out 5-3 winners against Belmont B in another match that could have gone either way. Andy Marriott beat Shaun Gebbie in a one sided affair, aided by a 50 and a 40 in the first frame and then a 33 in the second as Shaun knocked in a few of his own. Dan Blunn played Arron Vaughan in a great match. The first went the way of Arron down on the last few colours and the second looked like going the same way until Dan rolled in a nice 33 to take the frame and a half. Ant Moore and Mark Satchwell had two tight frames with Mark taking the first on the pink. He then had quite a bit of run in the second before Ant had a 27 at the end to steal it leaving Mark to wonder how he didn’t claim the victory. Graham Bailey potted nicely to take his first frame with some to spare for Belmont against Ian Rennocks. The second was closer with Ian knocking in a cracking 38 to level the match up and leave Ivanhoe overall winners courtesy of the win for Andy Marriott.
SDSC A scored their first victory of the season with a resounding 6-2 success over Swad Cons A. Harry Farrell was man of the match as he rolled in a 46 in his win against Simon Orpwood. Ben Davies was also in fine form for the Snooker Centre as he notched two against Lee Wood. The Cons talisman Andy Grainger was only able to score one point as he halved with Adam Harrison and there was another draw in the game between Henry Tomas and Paul Slater to pull SDSC A out of the bottom 3.
