Admin: Managing tournaments

The notes below give guidance on how to manage and administer tournaments.

After you’ve set up the tournaments required for a new season (see Notes for setting up a new season) you can then manage tournaments the following way:

Team Tournaments

  1. Add the Rounds required for each team tournament: Admin: Team Tournament… Add Team Tournament Rounds.
Click Add Tournament rounds and select the Tournament, add the round name (Round 1) and put the sequence in. The sequence is important as the final should be the last in sequence and the first round the first in sequence. So make Round 1 sequence 1 and increase the sequence number by 1 for each round in the tournament.
  2. Add the fixtures for each round. Admin: Team Tournament… Add Team Tournament Fixtures.
Click the Add Tournament Entries button.
The current season will be shown at the top of the page with a number (16  for example). That number is important as you want to add teams with that number prefixed for the fixture.
So select the Tournament and Round from the drop down list. Then select the teams for the fixture.
So if season is 17 and Burton Cons A are playing Burton Cons B in the Orme Shield Round 1 then you would choose Orme Shield 2016-17: Round 1 and the Home team 17 Burton Cons A and Away team Burton Cons B. Add the fixture date (or click the calendar icon). Select the club for the home team. Click Save
  3. When the fixture result is in go to the fixture and click in the HomeScore and AwayScore, enter the score and press Enter.

Player tournaments

  1. Add the Rounds required for each team tournament: Admin: Player Tournament… Add Player Tournament Rounds.
Click Add Tournament rounds and select the Tournament, add the round name (Round 1) and put the sequence in. The sequence is important as the final should be the last in sequence and the first round the first in sequence. So make Round 1 sequence 1 and increase the sequence number by 1 for each round in the tournament.
  2. Add the players who are competing in each player tournament. Admin: Player Tournament… Add Player Tournament Entries.
Click the Add Player Tournament Entry button.
    Select the player tournament.
For singles competitions select the player in the UPlayer1ID drop down list box. Leave the UPlayer2ID drop down box blank.
For doubles competitions select the first player in the UPlayer1ID drop down list box and the second player in the UPlayer2ID drop down list box.
Don’t add anything in the Name box.
If it’s a handicap competition put the numerical handicap in the box. Sometimes this doesn’t work on the Add screen. But in the full table below just click in the Handicap box and add the number and press enter.
  3. Add the fixtures for each round. Admin: Player Tournament… Add Player Tournament Fixtures.
Click the Add Tournament Entries button.
Each tournament in the drop down list for the tournament has a prefix number before it (86  for example). That number is important as you want to add player entries with that number prefixed for the fixture for that competition..
So select the Tournament and Round from the drop down list. Then select the players for the fixture.
So if the tournament prefix is 86 and John Smith is playing Dave Green  in the Evershed Round 1 then you would choose 86 Evershed Vase 2016-17: Round 1 and the Home team 86 John Smith and Away team 86 Dave Green. Add the fixture date (or click the calendar icon). Select the club for the home player. Ignore RoundDesc. Click Save.
  4. When the fixture result is in go to the fixture and click in the HomeScore and AwayScore, enter the score and press Enter.
